Even if you haven’t heard of Tired Pony yet, chances are you’ve heard their music — in one form or another — before. Led by Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody, Tired Pony is the latest rock supergroup, falling into that not-too-hard, not-too-soft category frequented by bands like Snow Patrol and Stereophonics and even — lately — Belle and Sebastian. In fact, the new group includes R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, Belle and Sebastian drummer Richard Colburn, and Young Fresh Fellows member Scott McCaughey. Tired Pony’s debut album, “The Place We Ran From,” will also include guest vocals from She & Him’s Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, and Editors’ Tom Smith. The album comes out in July, but in the meantime, the band has released this eight-minute video of them writing and recording in the studio. Check it out below and check out www.tiredpony.com for details about the new group and project.
