Here’s a band whose name seems tailor-made for your Valentine’s Day mixtape. But don’t be fooled, The Kissaway Trail are hardly romantic listening. Instead, the band is known for their high-octane sound, and booming, frolicking melodies, which bring to mind The Flaming Lips and early-era Interpol.
This spring, the Danish five-piece will release their debut album in America, entitled “Sleep Mountain.” The disc features 11 big-chorus rock songs and a cover of Neil Young’s “Philadelphia,” originally recorded for the movie of the same name in 1993. The band’s first single is “SDP,” a catchy, standout track propelled by lead singer Thomas Fagerlund’s earnest vocals and the pulsating sound of clanging church bells. Believe us when we say it all works beautifully.
