Brendan Benson is back with a new music video for the song “Pretty Baby” off of the songwriter and co-founder of the Raconteur’s fifth solo effort, “What Kind of World.”

The bloody back-woods nightmare was directed by Young Hines, the first signing to Bensons’s Readymade Label, and the man behind the Benson-produced album, “Give Me My Change.” The song, meantime, is the result of a songwriting collaboration between Benson and his friend and country music star Ashley Monroe.

It’s a departure of sorts from Benson’s previous sound but creatively and sonically (and visually!), it shows that the singer is willing to push himself each album out and bring forward something different for old fans and new fans alike. Check out the clip for “Pretty Baby” below:
