My dad thought it’d be fun to surprise my mom with a new “2-carat ring” for her birthday a few months ago. Little did we know the elegant velvet jewelry box he presented to her contained something not quite as glamorous (and hardly as expensive) but still just as fun.
The Yusuke Fujinuma-designed “2-Carat Cup” is a sleek porcelain cup adorned with a sparkling solitaire diamond ring just large (or small) enough to gracefully slip around your finger while you’re enjoying your drink. The white porcelain cup measures 3″ x 4″ and comes with a gold or platinum glaze and a real, clear, sparkling Swarovski crystal. It’s almost enough to make you forget the cheapskate-ness of the person who gifted the cup to you (no offense dad), though here’s hoping next time you’re in line for the real thing. Available at the MoMa store in person and online.
