Leave it to an illustrated bunny rabbit to show up all the best-dressed gals in town these days. While the exact origins of this self-professed “hare-ss” are unknown, the style “icon” known as Fifi Lapin has been delighting fashionphiles since 2007, with her stylish take on clothing and accessories from both on and off the world’s top runways. On any given day, Fifi can be seen modeling the latest looks from favorite designers like Chanel, Luella, Marc Jacobs and Chloe. Though no one has taken credit for Fifi’s creation (the artist behind the character has been dubbed the “Martin Margiela in the fashion illustration field”), Fifi has spawned a number of blogs and websites devoted to her daily duds. In the process, she’s also brought a new energy and viewpoint to each season’s collections, opening up the normally insular world of high fashion to the masses… and well, to her fellow rabbits as well.
Fifi’s popularity hasn’t gone un-noticed. Forever 21 recently released a limited edition raglan tee featuring her image, and T-shirt line Mighty Fine has a capsule Fifi Lapin collection of tees and tanks. Meanwhile, a collaboration with TopShop is rumored to be in the works, as well as a possible illustrated book. And this spring, Fifi released a new collection of totes and accessories with LeSportsac, marking the second time she’s worked with the venerable brand. It seems like everybody is falling for Fifi… are you?
