Zac Posen for Target Shopping Event

April 6th, 2010

Target is hosting a 24-hour shopping party this week to celebrate the launch of its new “Zac Posen for Target” collection. New Yorkers will have the opportunity to shop the entire collection before anyone else in the entire country!

This is Posen’s first collection for Target, and it’s a brighter, lighter spin on the New York-based designer’s signature runway line. Think 90s-inspired prints and vivid colors on flirty party dresses, tees and tanks. There are also some more “basic” pieces, like structured blazers and slim-cut cotton pants, as well as Posen’s new take on the LBD. Prices range from $16.99 to $199.99.

The 24-hour shopping event starts Thursday, April 15th at 11pm and runs until 11pm the following night. In addition to prizes and giveaways, there will also be performances by The Like and DJs Kid America, The Other Will and Luisiul. The address is 481 8th Avenue at 34th Street. The event is open to the public but get there early because there is sure to be a line-up. And if you can’t make the party, Posen’s Target collection hits stores nationwide on April 25th and will be on sale for a limited time until the end of May.

Zac Posen for Target Lookbook

January 15th, 2010

You’ll have to wait until April 25th to buy it, but check out a couple looks from designer Zac Posen’s new lower-priced collection for Target. The looks focus on printed, floral dresses and even some pieces in gold lame (like the halter dress seen below). Posen has also designed some classic separates, inlcuding a slim black suit and a basic black skirt. The prices range from $19 for a T-shirt to $200 for a leather motorcycle jacket. What do you think of Posen’s collection for Target? Affordable New York chic or pale and trendy imitation of Posen’s finer work from the past?

Target Pop-Up Shops

December 2nd, 2009

The downside to living in New York — and there are just a few — is that we can never make it to a Target store whenever they launch they latest designer collaborations. Sure, there’s one in downtown Brooklyn and even one out in The Bronx, but for most Manhattanites, the location of those stores are almost as foreign as those parts of the city themselves.

Thankfully, Target is launching a handful of small pop-up shops in major cities across the country next week — just in time for the holiday shopping season too. They’re calling it “Target to Go” and the shops work more like fast-food counter than a traditional boutique. Customers “order” their selections by number at one counter and then pick them up at another counter, bagged and ready to go. Still, it’s no small potatoes: the Rodarte for Target collection will be among some of the items featured for sale (a week before the collection hits physical stores!), as well as selection of holiday gift items hand-selected especially for the occasion.

Ready to place your orders? Here are the locations of the “Target to Go” pop-ups:

New York: Meatpacking District, Gansevoort Street & Washington
Washington D.C.: Georgetown, M Street & Wisconsin Avenue
San Francisco: 5th Street between Market & Mission

All of the pop-ups are open from December 11th through the 13th from 10am to 8pm. Details at target.com.

Zac Posen for Target

December 1st, 2009

Target has announced that Zac Posen is the next designer to take part in their GO International series — the much buzzed-about program that’s asked world-renowned designers to create limited-edition, lower-priced collections for the retailer. Posen’s relatively short, but heralded career has already been rewarded with a CFDA Award for womenswear in 2004 and accolades in all of the major fashion magazines. While his beautiful gowns and dresses have graced some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities and appeared at all the major functions, it’s not clear what he’s proposed for his Target line. Still, judging from a similar collection he did for Target in Australia last year, shoppers can expect plenty of flirty, feminine, dresses and bold separates, with just enough tailoring and subtle details to please both the uptown and downtown crowds.

The Zac Posen for Target collection will be available at most Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com. The women’s fashion collection will launch on April 25, 2010, and be available through May 30, 2010.

After successful collaborations with Alexander McQueen and Rodarte, Target has announced that the legendary Jean Paul Gaultier is the third designer to contribute a capsule, lower-priced collection for the store. The exclusive “Jean Paul Gaultier for Target” collection is said to be inspired by “American woman” and will launch on Target.com and Target stores nationwide in March. It will only be on sale for a month, before it becomes fashion history… and the stuff of eBay lore.
