Poketo Party: Islands in LA

February 19th, 2009

If you’re in the LA area next Friday, make sure to go out and support our good friends at POKETO as they launch their “Islands in LA” show. Viewers will get to see art happen in real time, as select artists work to create an entire new piece by the end of the night. Drinks and food will be provided and it’ll be a great chance to check out the local art scene and meet some of the creative types in the city. It all goes down at the POKETO headquarters on South Hewitt Street. Check out the flyer for details.

Taco Zone

January 19th, 2009

Our friends Ted and Angie from POKETO always know the best places to eat in L.A., so when they started raving about a taco truck in their L.A neighborhood, we knew we had to check it out. You’ll find taco trucks and Mexican food stands on seemingly every corner in some pockets of town, and most Angelinos swear by their favorites. Ted and Angie took us to Taco Zone, which sits in front of a plaza in between Echo Park and Silverlake. Being newbies to the taco truck scene, we kept it simple with a sirloin beef taco and a “pastor” pork taco. We also each got a horchata, a sort of milky rice drink that’s served cold. Ted and Angie have honestly been talking up these tacos since we first met them, and Taco Zone even catered their wedding last year (no joke!). Our verdict: delicious. The tacos were hot and tangy and fresh and totally lived up to the hype. In fact, if we weren’t leaving L.A. today we probably would’ve made another trip… There’s always next time I guess..
