Levi’s Launches Latest Collaboration With Opening Ceremony

February 1st, 2011

After two successful collaborations, Levi’s is teaming up with Opening Ceremony once again on a capsule collection, this time focused on everything “Chambray.” The Levi’s Chambray by Opening Ceremony collection includes eight pieces—four silhouettes for men and four for women—in a colorful array of premium, Japanese chambray and lightweight indigo denim.

Levi’s, which has been building its iconic workwear shirts out of sturdy cotton chambray for over a century, reinterpreted their “blue color” roots by creating a collection that uses multiple colors of light-weight and buttery-soft premium Japanese chambray in addition to the traditional blue chambray. The looks fuse Levi’s iconic Americana style with Opening Ceremony’s youthful spirit and modern fits. It’s perfect for spring and versatile enough to carry over into summer and fall. Plus, we love that it’s casual enough to wear on weekends but substantial enough to dress up and wear out.

The collection hits stores and online at openingceremony.us this month (launching during New York fashion week) but we’ve got a sneak peek at some of the Terry Richardson-shot images from the new collection campaign below:

Fashion’s Night Out Version 2.0

August 27th, 2010

Fashion’s Night Out have hit us with an ostensibly unfashionable “PSA” featuring some of the world’s top models. But maybe that’s the point. Unlike the rest of New York Fashion Week — which panders to the industry’s elite — FNO is for the casual fashionista; at least that’s what a series of decidedly un-glam, grinning supermodels will have us think. The above trailer features 14 of the industry’s top models directed by world-renowned photographer Peter Lindbergh, in an effort to drum up hype and support for the now annual shopping event.

See a sampling of the night’s festivities, including in-store appearances from the Olsens, Alexander Wang and Janelle Monae, after the jump…

Opening Ceremony Spring Sample Sale

May 12th, 2010

The sub-headline to this entry should say “prepare for lineups,” because honestly, after seeing the line of people curled around two entire SoHo blocks last fall, we weren’t sure we were prepared for such social and shopping anxiety — and on a weekday no less! We ended up walking down the street to Unis, where we had the entire store to ourselves and found a great deal on a pair of comfy, soft-washed shirts. But that’s neither here nor there (And we got totally jealous when we heard our friends talk about all the deals they found once they actually got into the OC sample sale).

For those who are willing to brave the lineups this week, Opening Ceremony is promising up to 90% off brands like Alexander Wang, Jeremy Scott, Erin Wasson x RVCA, Band of Outsiders and more. The sale starts tomorrow morning at 11 am (though the line will start forming much earlier) and runs until Sunday night at 7. It takes place at the Opening Ceremony flagship, 33 Howard Street in New York. Details on the flyer below and on the Opening Ceremony website.

Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman For Opening Ceremony

February 21st, 2010

Hollywood faves and fast friends, Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman star in Opening Ceremony’s new short film to promote their spring/summer 2010 collection. Directed by budding directors Gia Coppola and Tracy Antonopoulos, the clip was inspired by 60s-era New Wave films and is scored by Schwartzman’s band, Coconut Records. The actors are seen lounging around in various set-ups, while sporting OC’s casual, preppy looks for spring/summer. Check out the video below:

Opening Ceremony Collaborates With Levi’s… on Corduroys

January 12th, 2010

Another week, another new collaboration announced by Opening Ceremony. This time, the clothing boutique is teaming up with Levi’s for a capsule collection focused on corduroys. We love it already.

The spring “Levi’s + Opening Ceremony” collection will include pants and shorts in a fine-wale fabrication, corduroy shirts, and jean jackets in both corduroy and denim. The aesthetic is said to be vintage-inspired, though reports say the corduroys will come in some more modern and unique colors, like fuchsia, teal and lavender (Still, if anyone can make fuchsia pants hip and wearable, it’s Opening Ceremony). Photographer Ryan McGinley, who shot the current Levi’s “Go Forth” advertising campaign (seen above) will also helm the lens for the new campaign.

The unisex capsule range will be sold at Opening Ceremony stores and online at levi.com, as well as in select boutiques across the world, like Colette, Fred Segal and the Henrik Vibskov store. As for pricing: the pants will retail for just under $150, while the shirts will run you $128 and the jackets start at $178. The “Levi’s + Opening Ceremony” collection launches next month.
