Growing up in Canada, our afternoons home from school weren’t complete without watching episodes of Degrassi over Tim Horton’s hot chocolate (we added marshmellows) and Timbits. Funny how both these things are now hot commodities across the border. In the case of Degrassi, we’ve kept up with the series over the years, from rooting for Joey Jeremiah and Caitlin back in the day, to watching Aubrey “Drake” Graham go from hometown hero to international star (though part of him will always be “Jimmy Brooks” to us). Our love for Degrassi was evident as we prepared our very first issue of Corduroy, which featured actress Lauren Collins in a three-page spread. Collins (a.k.a. “Paige Michalchuk”) is now taking Hollywood by storm, both on and off-screen. In addition to landing small movie roles, she’s starring in the new Degrassi flick, appropriately titled Degrassi Goes Hollywood. The film follows Paige and her classmate friends as they chase their dreams of acting and singing stardom in L.A. In true Degrassi fashion, however, all is not as it seems. Presumably hilarious hijinks ensue. Check out the trailer for the film below and tune in this Friday for the premiere of Degrassi Goes Hollywood on The N.
