Get Your Kids on Your Keds

May 19th, 2010

After Misha Barton put Keds back on the wish lists of the rich, the famous, the OC fan, the hipster and the creative type, the 94-year-old shoe company is re-releasing some of their iconic models or producing them with a twist. Reminiscent of the 1930s, this month they came out with a shoe with a jute sole and a pair with a vintage colored canvas.

While they are offering one limited edition pair drawn from their century old collection every month, they’re also extending the realm of possible Keds by initiating a “Design Your Own” program on their website. Something already quite familiar to all Nike fans, it, as suggested, lets anyone design their own pair based on the brand’s most popular models. While the site offers a number of basic colours and ideas, the apprentice designers can download images from their own photographic collections and even sell their final designs via the Keds’ website. While mother’s day has already passed, your father’s is coming up, and no dad look cooler than with photos of his kids on his feet. (Check out the customized version our editorial assistant Dan made for his dad, above).

KEDS Sneaker Collaboration With Jeffrey’s

December 8th, 2009

Following a successful collaboration with Opening Ceremony earlier this year, sneaker brand (and Corduroy fave) Keds is teaming up with upscale retailer Jeffrey’s on a new holiday collection. The collection features Keds’ classic shoe made over in velvet instead of canvas, and in four rich colors. The sneakers — which retain the signature Keds clean and simple look — were co-designed by store founder Jeffrey Kalinsky and will hits stores next week. They retail for $90, which is a little pricier than the regular Keds kicks.. Still, for a limited-edition sneaker collaboration, we think it’s worth it.

Pro-Keds

May 22nd, 2009

We had a nice surprise waiting for us today when we got back into town from Toronto: a fresh pair of white canvas Pro-Keds! We’ve been loyal Keds fans since elementary school and we love how all these years later, they’re still just as cool and stylish. Sometimes all you want is a simple, well-made, well-fitting classic shoe y’know? The Keds Champion sneakers (in navy and white) are a staple in our wardrobe, and we pair them with everything from jeans to suits. But we’re stoked to have the new Pro-Keds to wear for the summer — perfect without socks and with a pair of shorts, or dressed up with a slim pair of khakis and a gingham shirt. Thanks to Dante for the Corduroy love and for sending the shoes over!
