Fashion’s Night Out have hit us with an ostensibly unfashionable “PSA” featuring some of the world’s top models. But maybe that’s the point. Unlike the rest of New York Fashion Week — which panders to the industry’s elite — FNO is for the casual fashionista; at least that’s what a series of decidedly un-glam, grinning supermodels will have us think. The above trailer features 14 of the industry’s top models directed by world-renowned photographer Peter Lindbergh, in an effort to drum up hype and support for the now annual shopping event.
See a sampling of the night’s festivities, including in-store appearances from the Olsens, Alexander Wang and Janelle Monae, after the jump…
Marc Jacobs has been doing a lot of things right recently over at Louis Vuitton. We adored his casting of Victoria’s Secret supes Karolina Kurkova and Adriana Lima, as well as veterans Laetitia Casta and Elle Macpherson for LV’s recent show in Paris (how completely nostalgic and “right now” at the same time!). And this month, the company unveils their new ad campaign for Fall 2010, featuring models Christy Turlington, Karen Elson and Natalia Vodianova. The goal of the campaign, according to Jacobs, is to represent the diversity of the luxury brand, as interpreted by three women of different ages, looks and styles. Jacobs himself appears in this YouTube teaser (released today), giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the new campaign, and talking about how the garments, the models and the photographs all came together. Check out the clip below:
Like the song below? It’s an acoustic version of “The Ghost Who Walks,” the first single from model-turned-singer Karen Elson’s debut solo album, set to be independently released this summer. Sure it’s easy to be cynical about Elson’s musical foray (see: Carla Bruni), but musician-husband Jack White produced the single, and watched over the recording process at his Third Man Studios in Nashville. Elson wrote and recorded 11 tracks in all for the album, which is still untitled at this point. Color us intrigued…!
We’re working on a feature with Elson for the next issue of Corduroy. Keep your fingers crossed that it works out! In the meantime, check out the haunting video for “The Ghost Who Walks” below:
