Gap is teaming up with Cotton Incorporated to give old jeans a “new life,” as part of their “Recycle Your Blues” denim drive. From now until October 20th, shoppers who bring in their old jeans to Gap stores in the U.S. and Canada, will receive 30 percent off new 1969 jeans purchases (Become a fan of Gap on Facebook and get an even sweeter deal – 40 percent off their new 1969 jeans purchase through Gap’s Facebook Fan Page). The old denim will be converted into “denim insulation” and donated to communities in need. Donated denim from a similar drive last year went toward insulating more than 500 homes in underserved communities and for special projects, including Hurricane Katrina rebuilding efforts.
Shoppers can recycle their denim at more than 1,000 Gap stores in the U.S. and Canada. Head over to Facebook.com/GAP for more information.

Last week we told you about Garance Doré’s upcoming pop-up shop in London for GAP. Our favorite photographer/blogger will be curating an exhibition of her sketches and photographs and selling personally-designed, limited edition T-shirts created just for the occasion. Today, we have a first look at Doré’s tees, which feature her trademark line sketches in flirty, feminine designs. The tees are sure to sell out fast — and not only because of Doré’s rising popularity. Only 69 shirts in each style will be manufactured (the number referencing GAP’s 1969 year of launch and the subsequent — and now trademark — 1969 Gap brand jean) so lucky Londoners will likely be the only ones getting their hands on one of Doré’s new designs. Then again, there’s always eBay…
Read what Doré has to say about her GAP collaboration and check out all of the T-shirt designs by heading over to her latest blog.

Corduroy’s favorite fashion illustrator/blogger/ photographer Garance Doré is teaming up with GAP to curate an exhibition of her own work next month at the clothing company’s new London pop-up shop on Carnaby Street. The concept store will feature Doré’s sketches and photographs of Paris street style, as well as limited edition T-shirts created by Doré especially for the occasion. No word yet on whether she will make an appearance at the event…
The pop-up celebrates GAP’s 40th anniversary, and in recognition of the company’s 1969 year of birth (the number printed on the back of all GAP jeans), the store opens on September 10th for 19 days and 69 hours only. Visit www.garancedore.fr to see more of Doré’s work and click HERE to pick up Issue 5 of Corduroy featuring Garance Doré.

Add another item to the nostalgic fragrance list. GAP has relaunched its popular “Dream,” “Grass” and “Heaven” scents for women. My sister wore the “Grass” scent throughout high school and there was something so instantly fresh and appealing about it that I even briefly considered “borrowing” it for myself. GAP discontinued its fragrance collection a few years ago — maybe due to over-saturation? – though we did see a few boxes of “Heaven” occasionally pop up at random GAP outlets or discount perfume carts in the mall. Now, the company is bringing the perfume line back, introducing the young and floral scents to a new generation, while also playing perhaps, to the nostalgic whims of people looking to re-capture a tiny piece of that carefree high school magic. We’re all for it.
The fragrances are available in one size, 100ml for $24, exclusively at GAP.
