Eco Party Mearry’s Recycled Tote Bags

August 30th, 2010

We’re loving these 100% “Upcycled” suit totes from Korean non-profit eco-designers collaborative, Eco Party Mearry. Made from vintage suits and shirts, with handles made from reclaimed leather sofas, the bags are handsome and striking, with camera-ready names like “Clooney,” “Jude,” “Richard” and “Charles.” Each tote measures approximately 19″ x 17;” roomy enough to fit a laptop, iPod and all your other everyday essentials.

Each bag is handmade by a group of young designers who have teamed up with Eco Party Mearry to promote their “reuse movement,” which seeks to find ways to remake and refashion products and materials that are typically thrown out and hard to recycle. No two bags are alike, as the designers source piles of used clothing from local warehouses and donation bins. In addition to getting a unique accessory, you’ll also be supporting a good cause: proceeds from the sale of the bags are being donated to eco-awareness and conservation programs in Korea and abroad.

The bags retail for $250 and are available in select boutiques and online from our friends at poketo.com.
