Weekend Viewing – Class Actress

When we held a party for Corduroy at the SoHo Grand Hotel in New York last year, we were treated to an amazing set from Brooklyn trio, Class Actress. Now, more than a year later, Elizabeth Harper and co. have gone national, signing with Terrible Records (fronted by Chris Taylor from Grizzly Bear), and touring with Little Boots and The xx, among others.

This fall, the group is on a coast-to-coast tour with Small Black, while promoting a special edition of their EP, “Journal of Ardency.” Catch out their MySpace page for all the tour dates. In the meantime, here’s a throwback to one of their first videos. The song is “Adolescent Heart,” and its twinkling, synth-pop sounds make it the perfect end-of-summer long weekend jam. Launch Party Thanks

Thanks to everyone who came out for our Issue 5 launch party this week. We somehow managed to pack 300 people into the Tribeca Grand, where they were treated to an amazing live performance by Class Actress, and DJ sets from Dima Dubson, Mandy B and Mandy C. The music kept the party going all night, the drinks (courtesy of Tanqueray) were flowing and we got a chance to hang out with some old friends and also meet some new ones. New York was where the idea of Corduroy was first born nearly two years ago, and it was great to finally celebrate our successes with the people — and the city — that made it all happen.
