President Obama wasn’t kidding when he said he wanted to reach out to Americans through technology. His campaign made full use of twitter and facebook, and now the White House has launched an official photostream on photo-sharing site Flickr. The pictures show the President and his staff on official business and in more candid moments, caught by photographer Pete Souza. It’s an amazing glimpse into what goes on inside the most famous residence in the world, and another revealing portrait of the man charged with leading the country. Check out some of our favorite photos below:

Last month, Cohesive Apparel designer Dave Appel traveled from L.A. to D.C. for Barack Obama’s historic inauguration. He brought with him a group of his best friends and one very worn-in pair of jeans. Appel wore the Cohesive jeans to the swearing-in ceremony at the National Mall and to various events and parties that week. With no time to wash them, his jeans soon accumulated girls’ digits, inspiration slogans, graffiti and just about everything else on them. In support of the new President, there are also some shout-outs to Obama on the denim as well.

After returning to L.A., Appel was bombarded by friends and clients, all asking about the “Obama denim.” While others took home flag pins and silk-screen tees, Appel had a truly unique memento from the inauguration festivities, personalized by dozens of people who stood with him as the country welcomed its 44th president. Now, fans of Cohesive and new President Obama can take home a pair of the “Obama jeans” as well. Appel has struck a deal with Nordstrom to replicate his infamous jeans in a limited edition collection. The jeans will be sold exclusively at the retailer this spring for $200, and 5 percent of all sales will be donated to charity. While we don’t think Obama’s call for change referred to new threads, this is a campaign we can definitely all get behind.
