Corduroy Issue 6 – Asher Book

November 3rd, 2009

Have you picked up our new issue yet? Issue 6 of Corduroy, featuring actor (and music label head honcho) Elijah Wood on the cover, is in stores now. You can also pick up a copy HERE online. Now we don’t usually put up our stories and photoshoots from the magazine here on the website, but here’s a little teaser to hopefully entice you to pick up the mag. It’s our short profile on actor and musician Asher Book — an up-and-coming young talent who was most recently seen in the remake of the 1980s musical hit Fame. Click on the image below to read our story on Asher, and head over to our gallery for behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot with Asher and all the people featured in our new issue.

Behind the Scenes: Asher Book

June 28th, 2009

Though we’ve received considerable attention for our features on a couple of old faves and familiar stars, at Corduroy, we also make it a point to introduce you to some new faces and talent. These are people who we may seen in a bit part in a movie or TV show, or people whose songs are stuck in our heads for days. Though they are just starting out, there’s something about them that makes us feel like they’ll be around for years to come.

We met singer and actor Asher Book a few weeks ago in L.A. On the surface, Book seems like your average teen heartthrob, complete with Disney credentials (he starred in “Beauty and the Beast” on Broadway) and lead singer status in a rising pop band. But you’d be wrong to peg him on first impressions. For starters, he’s transitioning out of his awkward teen years and about to turn 21. Plus, this is a guy who’s making some smart moves with his career, starting with shunning the US Weekly-type spotlight and keeping his feet wet in both film, music and the Broadway stage (Not many young stars can perform live in front of a fickle theater audience, let alone do ten performances a week for two years straight). Book knows he has his work cut out for him, but there’s something refreshingly mature and calm about him, like he’s fixed his mind on a goal and already knows exactly how he’s going to get there. Pick up Issue 6 of Corduroy in August to see more photos and to read our full interview with Asher Book.
