1. The Ray-Ban Clubmasters
Ray-Ban’s reintroducing another model from their archive. This time, it’s the retro-cool “Clubmasters,” first produced in 1986. We saw a bunch of guys AND girls trying them on today at Bloomingdale’s and we have to admit, they’re more flattering than we first thought. It’s perfect for a sunny day on the open road, or just laying out on the beach or deck. Hey, it’s 30 degrees and windy here in New York, so a little wishful thinking doesn’t hurt right?
2. MUJI 2008 Advent Calendar
This Christmas, MUJI unveiled one of its largest advent calendars yet. Featuring 24 mini boxes stacked in the shape of a tree, each day has its own drawer and its own unique treat. Details on the MUJI website. Make sure you also check out the MUJI Christmas cards while you’re there. They’re always a favorite among our friends, who say it’s actually a card they want to keep!
3. The PF Flyer “Vere”
We love the sheer nylon side panels on the Vere, a brand new style from one of our favorite sneaker brands, PF Flyers. It retains the tailored comfort and clean lines the company is known for, while adding just enough detail to make people look twice. The Vere comes in a variety of colors and we may just have to pick up a couple pairs for our brothers and sisters…and also for ourselves.
4. CLEAN “Shower Fresh” for Men
We’ve been fans of Canadian company CLEAN for years, though we never really warmed up to their men’s fragrance line. The signature scent was a little too citrusy and strong for our liking. But the new “Shower Fresh” line takes us back to that “just-scrubbed” feeling, where you feel rejuvenated and ready for the day ahead. With notes of Bergamot, Lemon, Thyme, Cardamom, Nutmeg, Spearment, Black Tea & Cedarwood, it sure beats Irish Spring. Details at the CLEAN website.
5. Recycled glass jewelry from “Smart Glass”
These hand-made earrings made out of recycled wine bottles are a signature for Atlanta-based designer Kathleen Plate. Other pieces are fastened out of beer bottles, and there’s even a Coke-licensed line. The glass is cut and fired, then re-shaped and finished with sterling silver accents.
