Eugenia Kim’s Things That Never Go Out of Style

As you know, our magazine is based on the idea that a corduroy jacket never goes out of style. Now we’re taking that idea to some of our favorite artists, musicians, designers and friends, with a new feature here on corduroymag.com. Each week, we’ll ask some of our favorite people in the industry to share with us their “Top Ten” list of “Things That Never Go Out of Style.” It could be an item of clothing, a book, an old saying, a classic album…anything goes! Think of this as a way for you to get to know these movers-and-shakers a little bit better, and perhaps, a way to garner some inspiration as you compile your own list along with them.

This week, we talked to New York-based accessories designer Eugenia Kim, best known for her line of whimsical and dashing hats, headbands and hairpieces. A former student at Parsons School of Design, Kim’s designs put a fresh spin on classic pieces, giving them an urban, stylized, and unmistakably New York edge. Kim’s line is sold in boutiques and major retailers nationwide, including Bloomingdale’s and Barneys. She also recently launched a collection for Urban Outfitters called “EEK!” Here is Eugenia Kim’s top ten list (in reverse order) of things that never go out of style:

10. White button down shirt – You can pair it with everything!

9. Wine – A glass of wine on a cool summer night is perfection…

8. Good sense of humor – because life isn’t perfect!

7. Sunglasses – They hide what you don’t want people to know

6. Diet Coke – For every minute of my day…it’s what keeps me going (Diet Coke also known as the “Eugenia Kim Inc. mascot”)

5. BLACK ANYTHING!!

4. Ponytail – for when things get messy

3. Hat – duh! A best seller for years, our Muffy cap adds the finishing touch to any outfit

2. Family – keeps you grounded

1. Confidence – You can do anything with it
