If you haven’t had a chance to check out this year’s NY Art Book Fair, make sure to head down to MoMA PS1 this weekend to browse through the hundreds of new and favorite titles, and take in some of the artist talks and exhibitions. British photographer Mark Borthwick will be at the Fair on Sunday, signing his new book, The Heart Land (published by Powershovel). The book — which is also being released in Japan — features a series of Borthwick’s signature dreamy, hazy photographs, with an emphasis on nature and ecology. It’s a perfect book to flip through, to bring you back to the lazy summer days, just as the actual weather upon us turns cold. Borthwick’s signing takes place this Sunday at 3pm. Details on the flyer below:

We got an early Christmas present in the mail the other day when this beautiful coffee table book by renowned portrait and landscape photographer Alec Soth arrived on our doorstep. Titled “O Christmas Tree,” the book is a tree typology-of-sorts, photographed by Soth in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. With the impending holidays as a loose theme, Soth found 20 unique “Christmas” trees in 20 surprising locations, ranging from a church parking lot to a rural lake. Look closely and you’ll find another surprise: the book is actually a cleverly-disguised Urban Outfitters catalogue. Each tree photo has been subtly styled with home accessories and pieces from the store’s holiday collection. Check out more photos from “O Christmas Tree” after the jump…

This past Saturday, October 9th, would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday, and fans around from New York to Liverpool marked the occasion with tribute shows, impromptu sing-alongs, and even silent vigils where they gathered to promote Lennon’s call for peace. Now, the Stephen Bulger Gallery in Toronto is extending its celebration of Lennon’s legacy for two more weeks, as it exhibits a selection of images from the famous “Give Peace A Chance” Montreal Bed-in in 1969.

The photos were taken by a young photojournalist named Gerry Deiter, who was assigned by LIFE magazine to photograph Lennon and Yoko Ono at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel during their protest against America’s involvement in the Vietnam War. Deiter captured hundreds of images of the couple in public and behind the scenes, as celebrities and visitors poured through the room. It was during this protest that Lennon wrote the song “Give Peace A Chance,” which he then recorded spontaneously with an unlikely crowd who just happened to be there at the time.

Artist/photographer Ari Marcopoulos has a lot to celebrate this month, with the launch of a new camera bag collaboration with Incase, and a special exhibition of his work at Los Angeles gallery, Project Space.
Released last week, the Incase | Ari Marcopoulos Camera Bag sees the artist extending his creative vision to product design. The camera bag is sleek yet functional, with its sharp gray color and rounded edges complimenting its wealth of deep pockets, padding and weather-resistant material.

The bag also comes with a copy of “Now is Forever,” a limited-edition book of unpublished Ari Marcopoulos full-color photographs. The book reads like a travelogue, with images from Italy, Japan, United States, France and England. Select images from the book are now also on display as part of Project Space’s artist installments, which most recently featured work from New York photographer Janette Beckman and Dutch artist Parra. (Project Space is a joint performance, exhibition and installation space created by art magazine Arkitip and Incase).
Read on to find out how to purchase the bag and to see a behind-the-scenes video explaining how the curious collaboration came together…
