The truth about love is that sometimes it hurts, sometimes it smells and sometimes it ends. In this last case, all of us have probably already had to deal with the “hangover” and question of what to do with the “material residues” of the relationship. If being creative can be a way to console yourself, the solution might exists in Croatia where Olinka Vistica and Drazen Grubisic have set up a Museum of Broken Relationships.
Considering that objects possess an affective dimension, the exhibition intends to create a space of secure memory or protected rememberance in order to preserve the material and nonmaterial heritage of broken relationships. The Museum collection is made of teddy-bears, old t-shirts, photographs, love letters and even an artificial leg, all donated by people and exposed anonymously but contextualized with a short text introducing them. Check out more about the museum at www.brokenships.com.
